About Cathy Witlox

After earning her bachelor’s degree in English language and literature from the University of Western Ontario, Cathy Witlox completed a post-diploma certificate in Book and Magazine Publishing at Centennial College (1998). Upon graduation, she was hired by one of Canada’s largest publishers for an in-house proofreading position. In 1999, she moved into the role of copy editor.

Cathy launched her freelance editing career in 2004 and has since gained experience in structural editing, stylistic (line) editing, and copywriting. She has provided these editorial services to fiction and nonfiction publishing houses, websites, magazines, newspapers, marketing companies, corporations, government bodies, professional associations, and individuals.

As well as editing full-time, she teaches a copy editing course in Ryerson’s publishing program and a grammar and writing course for professionals at the University of Toronto’s School of Continuing Studies. When not working, Cathy spends much of her time walking her three dogs with her husband, reading, knitting, and blogging.

Cathy is a proud member of the Editors’ Association of Canada and the Writers’ Community of Durham Region.
